  The Annual QETA UQ School of Economics Student Economics Competition is open to all schools in Queensland.

  The Competition is conducted in your school in one 45 minute lesson sometime between 22 July and 26 July 2019.

  It is a 40 item multiple choice test assessing Unit 1 for Year 11 students of the 2019 Syllabus and both Core Units 3 and 4 for Year 12 students of the 2010 Syllabus (this is necessary because units can be studied in different order by schools). The first 10 questions assess some knowledge of current economic events.

  There is no entry fee. There are cash prizes for students who obtain first, second or third position in each of the two Year levels. The prizes are presented at a Ceremony to be held at University of Queensland on 16th September 2019.

  To enter your school and its students, simply follow the steps from here.

  Entries must be received by Wednesday 17th July 2019.

  The competition papers are forwarded to school by email. Schools copy the papers for their students as well as blank response sheets for students.

  This is a half-day Professional Development event conducted by the Queensland Economics Teachers' Association.

  To be held at Brisbane Girls Grammar School, the event gives teachers of Economics an opportunity to receive 3 hours of PD, meet other teachers of Economics, have a great morning tea, hear some outstanding speakers in the field of Economics.

  The program is:

  8:30-9am Registration

  9-9:10am Welcome and housekeeping

  9:10-10:15am Keynote speaker: Key note presentation from Deloitte Economics on current state of the Australian Economy

  10:15-10:45am Morning tea

  10:45-11:30am Session 2: Dr Jayanta Sarkar Senior lecturer Economics QUT, Queensland Behavioural Economics Group. Topic: Income Inequality in Australia

  11:30-12:20pm Session 3: QCAA will present a 45 minute workshop on how schools might develop their own communities of practice, which may assist in developing internal quality management processes to support new QCE System processes. Participants should bring a copy of the Economics 2019 General Syllabus with them.
